In 2005, Mile Zero Dance brought Mari Osanai to Edmonton as choreographer for the Mile Zero Dance Lab. Her workshop was widely attended by dancers, musicians, and actors, and we were able to see its influences. From the work of young choreographers, (Jennifer McLeod, Tanya Lukin-Linklater) to the voice and physical training of musicians (Karen Porkka, Thom Golub) to the work of actors (Amber Borotsik, Vanessa Sabourin, Aaron Talbot), the ripple effect of a single Noguchi Taiso workshop was felt throughout the community.
